Scenic Photos of Seattle These photos were taken in downtown Seattle.
I got lucky with the weather and was able to take the classic Seattle shot.
This
one just had a War of the Worlds feel, or perhaps it would make a good
Spiderman set.
No photo trip to Seattle is complete without a shot of the original, founding Starbucks store. The guy blurring by in the foreground has obviously had one too many, so he he must have decided to pass by this time.
My favorite flower, Coulter's Matilija Poppy (Romneya coulteri) which is native to my Southern California, was a nice treat to find here in Seattle. There will be hundreds of them on this bank above the northern part of the city in a few weeks. I caught one of the first blooms above.
This is a shot of a spaceship (lenticular) cloud over Mt. Rainier from my dorm balcony at the University of Washington. It was a little hazy on this day and I didn't bring my big lens or my tripod with me, so I duct-taped my Nikon to a railing for this 60-mile shot with a 70-mm lens.
This is what people see when they're walking under the monorail rails to the entrance of the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame. The theme to "The Jetsons" was playing outside as I took this photo. I have become a big fan of Frank Gehry's architecture since I photographed his Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles earlier this year.
Look closely. This 30-foot tree is actually a breathtaking aluminum sculpture, one of many at the Olympic Sculpture Park--a former 9-acre industrial site between the city and the Sound that has been transformed into a green area with art.
Beam me up!!!
Another shot of the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame.
