Camas Flower Photo
by Lee Reeder

Camas (Camassia quamash) is one of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. In some wet meadows in spring on the western slopes of the Cascades in Oregon, thousands of these tall plants with their large flowers can create a sensory overload with an undulating sea of blue in the wind. Camas was prized by Native Americans for its edible roots.
