Loma Prieta Earhtquake photos. Water availability was a challenge for firefighters in the disastrous 1906 earthquake and fire in San Francisco, and the same was true 83 years later when the Loma Prieta Earthqauke struck. This photo shows some of the extensive hose lays that were created to supply water to help knock the fires down and keep them at bay after the earthquake.
