Narrow Leaf Penstemon
by Lee Reeder

The Narrow Leaf (Penstemon angustifolius) is a member of the Snapdragon family, and is also known as broadbeard penstemon and broadbeard beardtongue. It grows at elevations from 4,000 feet to 9,000 feet. These were growing in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. We found large stands of these beautiful flowers in the Cajon Pass during the spring of 2005 after heavy winter rains.
