Mormon Rocks and Cajon Pass, Southern California
by Lee Reeder

This photo gallery contains images from the Cajon Pass, between San Bernardino California and the High Desert. This area, bisected by the San Andreas Fault, is full of geological marvels, including Mormon Rocks. The pink Cajon Sandstone beds there have been uplifted and tilted by the fault and then weathered by rain and wind. To geologists, this huge area is a natural treasure, known as the San Andreas Fault and Cajon Creek Cooperate. It is also a great gift of nature to man and his ability to move himself and his goods across these rugged mountains. If you zoom past this place, like hundreds of thousands of people do daily, without ever taking time to stop and enjoy it, you are missing something very special. I hope to entice you to stop here with this gallery. Click on the pictures below to see larger versions or to order securely from this site.
