San Dimas Creek August 7, 2011, Just 7 miles from my house in La Verne. by Lee Reeder
San Dimas Creek on a 55-degree summer morning.
This young deer passed me near the creek.
An interesting natural arragement of Scarlet Monkeyflower, roots and rock, caused by floodwaters.
This Western Tiger Swallowtail seems to have a thing for poison oak.
The vertical canyon walls are lush with wild California Grape, even in August.
The bears had eaten most of the ripe backberries, but I got to enjoy these three--very tasty!
Another shot of the creek.
There were several deer in this area.
Scarlet Monkeyflower where the creek and canyon widen out.
