Red-Crowned Parrot Photos

Photos of some of the hundreds of Red-Crowned Parrots (Amazona viridigenalis) that inhabit La Verne.

by Lee Reeder

Hundreds of Red-Crowned Parrots fly over our neighborhood in the mornings and evenings.

.

These birds are endangered in their natiive northeastern Mexico,
but they're not having any problems in the eastern San Gabriel Valley.

.

Beautiful and loud.

.

Fifty of these birds could be in a tree and you wouldn't see any of them. This one was in the open.

Their wings are very colorful when extended.
