Gray Eagle Creek Snowshoe These photos were taken Jan. 16, 2011 along Gray Eagle Creek on the Plumas National Forest in the northeastern Sierra.
This is the bridge we walked over to cross Gray Eagle Creek on a snowshoe on the Plumas National Forest in the norteastern Sierra . This is me posing with Sockeye and Luna, my friend's border collies. I had to leave my border collie at home on this trip. He has hiked with these two dogs before though. Mine looks like Luna at right, but he's bigger. . My snowshoeing friend, a Forest Service biologist, taught me a lot about trees out there today. The Ponderosas out here look very healthy. . I love these dogs. Way too smart and lots of fun.
Lake Almanor, a little north of my friend's town, was a peaceful beauty this morning. . We saw this on the way. This is what happens when a couple of tons of red fir fall on a two-story house. . Here is the tree going into the back of the house. Luckily nobody was at home at the time.
